Implant Restorations

Implant restorations are the second part of the implant placement procedure. Depending on the type of implant you are receiving, your restoration may be a dental crown, an implant-supported dental bridge, or a set of implant-supported dentures. Dr. Park and Dr. Kwon will work with you to create an implant restoration at our Stamford dental office that will look and feel completely natural.

Implant Maintenance

Proper at-home dental implant care is essential whether you have a single-tooth implant or a set of full-arch implants. Fortunately, taking care of your implants is not much different than caring for your natural teeth, especially once they’ve fully healed.

While healing, you’ll want to stick to a diet of soft foods, and use a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean the site. Of course, once your implants are healed, you’ll still want to maintain excellent oral hygiene. To prolong the lifespan of both your implants and natural teeth, practice good habits like brushing twice a day with a soft-bristle brush, flossing daily, and avoiding chomping on hard or sticky foods like ice or candy.

To ensure you have the right information about your unique dental needs, Dr. Kwon and Dr. Park will provide you with detailed instructions for at-home dental care. In addition, coming into our Stamford office every six months for regular cleanings and implant maintenance will help keep your smile shining bright and functioning as it should.

Permanently Restore Your Missing Teeth

Single-tooth Implant

Single-tooth implants use one dental implant and a dental crown to restore one missing tooth. They look and feel completely natural, and are the most common type of dental implant. They require no special care beyond regular brushing and flossing, and they help stimulate and protect your jaw bone from deteriorating, unlike a dental bridge or partial denture.

Single-implant crowns are the simplest restorations, involving the replacement of a single missing tooth. The process is similar to the placement of a traditional dental crown in Stamford. Instead of placing it on a filed-down natural tooth, however, the custom-made, durable ceramic crown utilizes the dental implant as an anchor.

Full Mouth Restoration

Full-arch Dental Implants

If most of your teeth are damaged or missing, full-arch dental implants in Stamford may be right for you. Using 4-6 implants placed into the upper and lower arches of your teeth, Dr. Park and Dr. Kwon can create a set of permanent or removable implant-supported dentures. Unlike traditional dentures, full-arch dental implants will never shift or move while you eat. They look and feel natural, and help support the health of your jaw bone.

Mini Implants

Mini implants are similar to traditional implants. However, they are only about half the width and size of traditional implants. This means they are less invasive, and can be placed into your mouth even if you have a weakened jaw bone. Typically, mini implants are used to support and stabilize dentures in the lower arch of your mouth.

Advanced Techniques for Better Results

What Is the Dental Implants Process Like?

Receiving dental implants is a multi-part process that results in a natural-looking and functioning solution for patients that are missing one or more teeth.

‍The implant process begins by performing a thorough exam of your teeth and gums, including the use of advanced imaging technologies, like our handheld intra-oral scanner and CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scanner. These allow us to see, in great detail, the underlying structure of your jaw and help our Stamford team ensure that your implants are placed properly and that you’re a good candidate for implants in general.

‍Sometimes, a damaged or decayed tooth will need to be removed before placing the dental implant. More often than not, teeth that are beyond repair can cause more trouble than they’re worth. This makes a gentle extraction, followed by a dental implant placement, one of the best options for relieving your dental pain and restoring your smile.

‍Once we’ve determined that dental implants are right for you, and we’ve removed any damaged teeth, we can begin placing your implant. Dr. Park or Dr. Kwon will clean and numb the area before making a small incision and placing one or more dental implants into your gums and jaw bone. These implants are small, screw-shaped pieces of hardware crafted from durable, lightweight titanium, and designed to function just like the natural root of a tooth. After 3-6 months of healing, they will have bonded permanently with your jaw bone.

Once the implants have been placed and are fully healed, our Stamford dentists can attach implant restorations such as crowns or a full arch of teeth, which will be held fast in place by the dental implants.
